About Erasmus+
General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL) has been participating in the international exchange programme Erasmus since 2005 (Socrates from 2005 to 2007, Lifelong Learning Programme since 2007 and Erasmus+ since 2014). Participation in the programme is directly related to implementing the aims and objectives of the Bologna Process in the military institution of higher education encouraging lecturers and administrative staff to be more active and improving study quality.
The Erasmus+ programme is designed to ensure the quality of higher education, to foster student, teacher and administrative staff mobility and transparent multilateral cooperation of higher education institutions with enterprises and to ensure the compatibility of higher education and vocational training.
As the only Lithuanian military university harmoniously combining university studies with the Basic Officer Training Course, the MAL gives priority to strengthening cooperation with other military schools of the EU and NATO allies. The MAL actively participates in the networking of such higher education institutions, especially in the European Initiative for the Exchange of Military Young Officers (EMILYO) founded by the European External Action Service.
The cadets of the MAL participate in the Erasmus+ exchange for short-term courses and general modules.
The involvement of the MAL staff in international activities promotes their professional development, initiates the exchange of teaching methods and experience, enhances cooperation between science and educational institutions and develops the options and content of studies and courses.
The MAL organizes international semesters for foreign cadets and civilian students coming for part-time studies and work on final theses. Guests from partner universities come to teach on a regular basis.
