A visit of the representative of the Joint Expeditionary Force at the Military Academy of Lithuania

On May 13, BG Jo Butterfull, Chief of Staff of the Standing Joint Force Headquarters (located in Lithuania) of the UK Joint Expeditionary Force, payed a visit to the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania.
 
Brigadier General met with Commandant of the Military Academy COL Juozas Kačergius, Deputy Commandant for Education LTC Eugenijus Lastauskas, Vice-Rector for Studies and Research Dr. Mantas Bileišis, and instructors responsible for cadet military training. He got acquainted with the history of the Military Academy, the museum, and took a great interest in how future officers are being trained.
 
To the officers of the Military Academy the guest imparted information about the structure of the Joint Expeditionary Force, its tasks, and challenges this military unit undergoes. The Joint Expeditionary Force is a high-readiness multinational force which was established in 2015 and is comprised of maritime, air and land capacities from ten European nations (Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Finland). These forces are designed to respond to unexpected crises in Europe and beyond, ranging from humanitarian assistance, deterrence to military operations conducted on the basis of the mandate by the European Union, NATO or the United Nations.
