The Military Academy of Lithuania Shared Its Experience with Representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Army

On 21 September, a delegation of representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the armed forces and military schools, accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Stasys Paldūnas, Adviser on Military Education at the NATO Communications Bureau of the NATO Representation in Ukraine, visited the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania.
 
During the meeting with the Commandant of the Military Academy of Lithuania, Brigadier General Almantas Leika, and the leadership of its divisions, the guests were introduced to the only military school of higher education in Lithuania that provides university and military education and trains military leaders.
 
The activities of the Military Academy of Lithuania, the university studies of cadets and officers, the military and vocational training, the scientific research and projects, and the current leadership training programme were presented to the representatives of the Ukrainian government and the army, and they were told about the requirements and the selection process of those who want to become officers of the Lithuanian army.
 
Special attention was paid to the international cooperation of the Military Academy of Lithuania, which includes international career development and English language courses, scientific research, exchange programmes for teachers and students, scientific conferences organised with higher education institutions of foreign countries, and current cultural and educational projects.
 
The representatives of Ukraine told about the transformation of reforms and military training in their country through the application of Western standards and the NATO education and training system for the Ukrainian army, which seeks to increase interoperability with the armies of NATO countries, and presented the procedure for the preparation of the cadets of the Ivan Kozhedub National Air Force University for Russian aggression and actions with the onset of the military invasion of Ukraine by its armed forces this year.

After evaluating the outcome of the meeting, the Commandant of the Military Academy of Lithuania, Brigadier General Almantas Leika, assured the guests: “We believe in your victory. We shall always stand with you!”
