European Young Political Leaders promoting dialogue on security & defense

Dr. Kristina Prišmantaitė, the Director of the Centre for Defence Analysis, has participated in the first edition of the „Paris Defence Young Leaders“ programme which took place in France on 28 March – 1 April, and was organised by the Institute for Strategic Research (IRSEM) of the French Ministry for the Armed forces.
 
The programme consisted of twelve European promising figures in the field of defence and security, selected with the help of the French embassies all over Europe.
 
The Young Leaders programme aims to create a network of young personalities, to build awareness on the French vision of defence issues, to encourage dialogue between representatives of various countries and institutions on these subjects and to establish a cooperation spirit that will allow exchanges to last beyond the time spent together in Paris.
 
The participants of the programme met the General Thierry Burkhard, the Chief of Defence Staff, the General Eric Autellet, Deputy-Chief of Defence Staff, and Mrs. FlorenceParly, the French Minister for the Armed Forces.
 
The participants of the programme also visited various institutions and military sites such as the Military Academy of France (École Militaire), the Innovation Defence Lab, the Joint Centre for Doctrine, Concepts and Experiments, the Ariane Group, Orleans-Bricy Air Base and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
 
The participants of the programme met senior French officials, researchers and experts in the field of defence and were able to discuss with them European security related topics such as Strategic challenges facing Europe, Multi-domain operations, Emerging technologies, Military resilience plan, Air & Space Power in future conflicts, Countering hybrid threats.
