Beginning of the international Air Force Command and Staff Course

On 22 August 2022, General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL) opened the international Air Force Command and Staff Course (AFCSC). The course focuses on the air force staff officer training by developing ability to analyze and plan air operations at the component level.
 
The 17-week course enrolls 21 participants: 10 from Lithuania, 5 – Latvia and 6 – Estonia Air Force officers. Furthermore, Latvian and Lithuanian instructors will join forces in the training process.
 
The chief of Military Studies Group of the MAL Col Mantas Paškevičius and the Air Force officer Col Ltn Laimonas Čepulis greeted the AFCSC participants.
 
This year, the AFCSC students will undertake an updated political science programme addressing current issues and political and global security situation. Also, the course participants will go on study trips to Lithuanian and other countries Air Force bases, lectures will be given by invited foreign experts.
 
Having completed the AFCSC, officers may apply to the Joint Command and General Staff Course run by the Baltic Defence College or other equivalent courses at NATO colleges.
 
The MAL has been running the AFCSC for the officers of the three Baltic States since 2004.
