Historical lecture by the NSPA representative to Master students

2020 05 04

The NSPA representative Colonel (Ret.) Sigitas Mundris has found time in his busy schedule to deliver a lecture to the Master students of Management of Defence Resources at General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL). The guest called this lecture historical due to the three reasons.

First, it was not just a regular remote lecture because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the first remote lecture presented directly from the Headquarters of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) in Luxembourg.

Second, apart from the fact that educational activities are part of the NSPA responsibilities, Lithuania was among the first NATO countries to request for such service. Although first arrangements of Colonel Mundris' visit to Lithuania were made six months ago, the global pandemic disrupted the plans.

Last but not least, it was the first case in the NSPA history when its representative gave a remote lecture to the students of the European higher education institution and, furthermore, the distance did not affect the quality of the lecture.

Colonel Mundris described in detail the specifics of NATO logistics, its differences in comparison with civil logistics and supply chain management, shared his experience of service in the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO structures and named most relevant logistical problems of the Alliance and development directions.

The key factor proving the relevance and quality of the lecture was a discussion and students' wish to learn more about NATO logistics system extending the lecture by an hour.
