Since 1 January 2006 the Library of the Publishing and Information Provision Service of the LR Ministry of National Defence has been also located in the premises of the MAL Library. By joining these two libraries, the MAL Library has become the largest and wealthiest library within the National Defence System with regard to its funds of documents and the number of the library users. In addition, the MAL Library has also become a methodological centre among the libraries of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
The MAL Library services 1650 users (readers), with 60 working places in the Reading Room and 5 workstations in the Internet Reading Room. Here the library users can receive consultations on how to search for information; also, they can enjoy a book exhibition, ‘Leader Development’.
The main aims of the MAL Library are as follows:
to contribute to training of highly qualified Lithuanian officers and specialists for the National Defence System of Lithuania;
to conduct educative, cultural, and information dissemination activities;
to provide study-and-science-related information and services for the MAL cadets, staff, and the broader public.
The MAL Library is honoured to hold the following collections:

Collections of old and rare books;
Archival sets of military-related journals and magazines.
