 Junior Staff Officer Course, which started in the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania on 19 April 2010, finished on 22 July 2010. 37 Lithuanian and 10 foreign officers (from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Moldova and Ukraine) completed the course. The Acting Commandant of the Military Academy Lt. Col. V. Bukauskas presented course graduation certificates and badges to the students who finished the course with success. Capt. Jurgita Savickaitė as well as 1Lt. Hovik Mirzoyan (Armenia), whose results were the best among the foreign officers, received tokens of appreciation for outstanding performance. During the course the Lithuanian and foreign officers learned about the history of the art of war, international law, sciences of warfare and politics. The major part of classes was dedicated to learning how to plan battalion level tactical operation. During the practical part of training, the students had to plan military operations following decision making procedures. Later they had to simulate the implementation of the plans of the operations using advanced computer Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS) system. The foreign officers were also taken to sight-seeing tours around Lithuania, and they had an opportunity to learn more about the most interesting places of our country, its history and cultural heritage.
