On January 25, 1919 the Military School was established in Kaunas. In 1929 it was given the name the Military School of the First President of Lithuania. Following the tradition, this year the General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania commemorates significant historical date in the history of the Lithuanian officers’ training – the 93rd anniversary of the Military School establishment.
On January 23-24, 2012 the General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL) was visited by Commandant of the National Defence Academy of the Republic of Latvia Lt Col Egils Lescinskis and his delegation.
On 23 January 2012, the international Army Command and Staff Course were opened at the General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania. The course includes 42 officers from Latvia and Lithuania.
