
Junior Staff Officer Course
The Command and Junior Staff Officer Courses were subdivided into two separate courses: Company Commander Course and Junior Staff Officer Course.
Junior Staff Officer Course has been held at the General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania since 31 August 2009. JSOC is designed for officers of both Lithuanian and foreign Armed Forces. The course is held in English language and lasts for 13 weeks.
The aims of the Course are to prepare officers capable to undertake the position of a junior staff officer in the Battalion Staff of the Armed Forces; raise professional qualification, educate students’ leadership and team member’s qualities; introduce the principles of modern warfare, commanding and management and teach their practical application; implant faithfulness to the Homeland, appreciation of the values of Lithuanian Armed Forces.
48 students are admitted to the course, 9 of whom are foreign students. The courses are conducted 3 times a year. Students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Croatia, Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan have learned at Junior Staff Officer Course and former Command and Junior Staff Officer Courses.
The course programme includes lectures, seminars, exercises, practical activity, tests and examinations. The course participants are taught the subjects of Tactics, Connections, Combat Training Organisation, Military Administration (communication with media, military law, physical training, tactics trainer JCATS), Leadership Training, and History of Military Art and Political Science.
Students are taught by teachers from the MAL and visiting lecturers. The most advanced teaching methods, using the technical video and audio teaching means are applied during the Course.
Upon successful completion of course programme the officers are granted the certificates approved by the Minister of the National Defence and the badges.
