On 27 May 2009 the Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL) and the Vilnius City Municipality (VCM) signed a Cooperation Agreement at the Vilnius City Hall. It was signed by the MAL Commandant, Brigadier General Edvardas Mazeikis, and the Mayor of the Vilnius City Municipality, Vilius Navickas
On May 16, 2009 the celebration of Partisan Commemoration and the Army and Society Solidarity Day was held at Kaunas Confluence Park (Kauno Santakos parkas), where the General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania took part. The celebration began with a spectacular procession of the Military Academy cadets dressed as partisans and the choir ‘Cadet’ (“Kariunas”), which received great attention: Kaunas Confluence park was crowded with thousands of people and fans of the Lithuanian Army.
In 2009 May 16 the cadets of General Jonas Zemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy participated at a tradition to become “Regatta Neris” as well as at an event “Regatta of a Thousand Ships” which was designed for commemoration of Lithuanian millennium.
On the 13th of May 2009 the director of public institution National Blood Centre Mr. Vytenis Kalibatas awarded the winner cadets of General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy who participated in the blood donation action – competition “I Donated Blood! Join with Us!”
