On 26 November 2008 Maj Darius Baranauskas defended the first Master Thesis in Political Science at the Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL), which is the first time in the history of the MAL. This Master Thesis was entitled ’Kaliningrad: The Problem of Political and Military Security’. The superviser of the said Thesis was Associate Professor Virgilijus Pugaciauskas. Maj Darius Baranauskas became the first graduate of the Military Diplomacy Study Programme (MA in Political Science) conducted by the MAL Department of Political Science.
