The MAL Editorial Division (ED) was founded in 1992 (initially known as the Publishing Division). It includes 8 staff members. It aims at publishing MAL teaching, methodological, scientific, informational, and periodical materials, following the plan and procedure as approved by the LR Minister of National Defence. The functions of the ED include editing, translating, and designing of methodological study and scientific publications, their transfer to the electronic version, proof-reading, layout work, editing of official MAL letters and other MAL-related documents; also, it helps to prepare documents and books for printing by translating them from Lithuanian into English and from English to Lithuanian. In addition, the ED provides language consultations (Lithuanian, English) and those regarding publishing.
In the period from 1992 till 2008 the Military Academy of Lithuania published approximately 306 publications, including course books, dictionaries, glossaries and reference books, monographs, a range of scientific conference materials, study, methodological, and informational publications, a bigger part of which is dedicated to academic (university) studies and approximately 100 of the total are related to the military subject.
