Scientific researches at the Department of Applied Sciences are carried out in the following directions:

  • Detection of the explosives and contaminants using laser technique;
  • Application of mathematical modelling in optimizing the parameters of the nanostructure devices and materials;
  • Creation of workstations for motorized riflemen.

In 2003 the Academy, the Institute of Physics and JSC Ekspla signed the tripartite scientific cooperation agreement. On the basis of the agreement, in 2003-2006 the Department of Applied Sciences participated in the scientific work project Laser Infrared Spectrometric Remote Sensing Systems for Atmosphere Contaminants. The project was supported by the State Studies Foundation.

The Department holds annually scientific conferences and seminars in accordance with the framework programme of the Academy. On the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, the personnel of the Department prepared and published the following textbooks:

  • G. Misevicius, A. Pincevicius, R. J. Rakauskas, R. Eidukevicius. Higher Mathematics („Aukstoji matematika“). Textbook and computer assisted exercise book (with operating instructions of computer algebra system MAPLE).
  • A. R. Bandzaitis, V. Gudelis, V. Kevlicius, R. J. Rakauskas. Physics („Fizika“). Tasks and laboratory manual.
  • A. Pincevicius, A. Domarkas, V. Pakeniene. Applied Tasks of Mathematics („Matematikos taikomieji darbai“) Study book.

In 2005 the authors of the textbooks were awarded the encouraging prizes by the Ministry of Education and Science.
