The Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL), as a part of the Lithuanian Military Academy, was established in September 2006. The IFL encompasses the Department of Foreign Languages (DFL) and English Language Training Divisions (ELTD) in Kaunas and Vilnius.
The IFL subunits employ professional, innovative and highly motivated teachers. The total number of employees at the IFL is 70 (the director and deputy director of the Institute, four methodology specialists-training supervisors, two training support specialists, 17 training and support personnel in the DFL, 45 in Kaunas in Vilnius ELTDs).
The training of foreign languages is currently focused only on English. In near future, French and other languages are planned to be included as new curricula of foreign languages training in Lithuanian National Defence System.
