A Year of Radical Reforms
On June 26, new Internal Regulations of MAL were passed. The document rules the issue of the Academy management and organisation of studies, the order of engagement, admission, and discharge, the issue of maintenance, ant other spheres of activities.
On June 29, by the order of the Commander of Army, a new military training programme was approved. According to the programme, platoon commander training basics were arranged on semester system.
As early as February, the structural scheme of the Academy was reorganised into 4 big blocks- 3 of them were engaged in military, and 1 in academic matters.
Two centres added to the new scheme of school- the Centre of Science, set up in February, and the Strategy Research Centre in December.
The Department of Political Sciences joined by a number of known Lithuanian politologist, appeared in June.
A month later Selection Centre started up its activities based on modern and progressive selection system.
Owning to university-level study programmes the applicants of 2001, enjoyed the opportunity to choose between three bachelor programmes: personnel management, transport engineering management, and international relations (political sciences). After four years of successfully completed studies, the graduates of the Academy, just like the graduates of other Lithuanian universities, will earn qualification certificate and the diploma of Bachelor.
The Academy graduated 103 bachelors of warfare science, of them 90 students completed higher education studies according to mechanised infantry programme, and 13 –boarder defence programme. |
